BIOGRAPHY

With inspiration from the 90’s New York underground to ethnic rhythms heard around the world, Chris Staropoli productions have been playlist staples to deejays the world over. Getting his early start by making mix tapes and having been coined ‘That Kid Chris’ along the way, he turned a passion for music into what has become a career of deejaying, producing and remixing.

In his teens he was introduced to New York City’s thriving club scene having visited such legendary clubs as The Funhouse Disco, where he was turned on to electronic and underground dance music. In the years to follow, as hip-hop became mainstream in New York, Chris continued to gravitate towards the undergound house music club scene, which had become a very influential part of his music-making. The first ‘That Kid Chris’ release on vinyl was released on Digital Dungeon Records, an independent label from New York City. It was soon followed by ‘Keep On Pressin', making a mark in the U.K., and included on Sasha and Digweed’s first Renaissance mixed compilation, which went on to become one of the highest selling dance music compilations of all time. During this time period, while the rave scene began to flourish in America, Chris was spinning at the best New York City clubs such as Limelight, Roxy, Tunnel, Caffeine, and touring the rave circuit throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Determined to stay true to his sound, he continued releasing underground tracks and released one of his earliest noise-makers ‘Feel Tha Vibe’, on Manifesto Records(UK), which hit  #1 on the MUZIK magazine dance chart. Having created his collection of club hits on labels such as Junior Boys Own, Cream, Yoshitoshi, Nervous and Strictly Rhythm, he is respected and supported by some of the biggest names in dance music. His remix roster includes Billboard charting top artists-Santana, Missy Elliott, Monica, Brandy, Rob Thomas, Vivian Green and Madonna, who featured his remix of ‘What It Feels Like For A Girl’ on her "Greatest Dance Remixes" compilation. Chris has collaborated with some of the most recognizable names in house music, remixing tracks by Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, De’Lacy, Alcatraz and Bob Sinclair. He has since developed his own record label-TKC Music Group, which he founded in 2007, and features some of the hottest producers and newcomers in dance music.

With a deejay and production career spanning two decades, he has become a fixture in the global dance scene with residencies in NYC, Portugal and Montreal. Chris commands his fans with his hypnotic touch, and sinister tribal-tech sound. Not only does he continue to reinvent himself behind the decks, he pushes the envelope with every production and remix he masters. Producing and engineering his own records, he strives to be innovative in his attempts to master every idea, and give it life.
